First place in the CME Group Trading Challenge

OzU Invest team won first place in the global final round of the CME Group Trading Challenge. The team is composed of four Faculty of Business students Oğulcan Cevizoğlu (International Finance), Gökay Sürekçi (Business Administration), Özcan Emre Aksoy (Business Administration), Ögeday Gürbüz (Economics) and Erdi Gültekin, a Computer Science student from the Faculty of Engineering. 

The CME Group Trading Challenge is an electronic trading competition featuring international commodity, FX, and energy products. This year, 200 universities from 40 countries took part in the competition. The OzU Invest team won the first place, leaving 504 teams behind and outscoring their closest rival by approximately USD44,000.

The final round took place between February 23 and March 6. During the two-week period, OzU Invest achieved a 213% growth in their portfolio, increasing their initial virtual capital of USD 250,000 to USD 534,600. With their remarkable performance, our team outperformed teams from universities, such as University of Alabama at Birmingham, Boston University, and Carnegie Mellon University, and claimed the first prize of the global finale.

OzU Invest will travel to Chicago in April along with the rest of the finalists.
